Nous avions envie de vous la raconter, à la voix de ses grands témoins, celles et ceux qui ont porté ce projet, entre personnalités locales et débats internationaux. "Les coulisses de l’inscription du Val de Loire au patrimoine mondial", une série de quatre épisodes proposée par la Mission Val de Loire.

La DRAC Pays de la Loire et l'association Igers Anjou, en partenariat avec la Mission Val de Loire, lance un concours photo Instagram sur les ponts de Loire. Les photographies lauréates complèteront l'exposition "Franchir" déjà existante, coréalisée par la Mission Val de Loire et la DRAC Pays de la Loire. Elle sera présentée lors du colloque "Franchir" qui aura lieu à l'automne.

Look back at the 2018 “Habiter l’eau” forum
Some fifty participants gathered at the 2018 feedback forum of the “Habiter l’eau” (Living at the water's edge) laboratory, held on 18 May in Angers: among them teachers and students, directors and policy officers of urban planning agencies and the Établissement Public Loire, government departments and Mission Val de Loire. Beyond the pooling of results (project design, programming and assessment), the focus was also on identifying recurring themes and highlighting lessons that could be learned.

The aim of this guide is to share a method for taking into account world heritage issues prior to any formative intervention in the region. It stems from an initiative developed jointly with the local authorities of the listed property.

Artist-in-residence programme at La Colombière 2017
Julie Maquet won this year (the third year of the programme) and set herself up at La Colombière on 7 August, where she'll be until 18 September. Born in 1990, she gained her Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression plastique (Higher National Diploma in Plastic Arts) from the TALM ANGERS Graduate School of Fine Arts in 2015. Julie Maquet works with volume and sculpture.

Mission Val de Loire is carrying out a study on the socioeconomic value of landscapes along with various partners. On Saturday 1 July 2017, some fifteen local inhabitants (residents, farmers, association leaders and elected officials) joined up with the research team sent out by the Passeurs-Paysagistes association on a tour taking them from Saint-Saturnin-sur-Loire to Trélazé along the southern hillside and crossing the Authion Valley.

Modification of the UNESCO site’s limits
Meeting for its 41st session, held in Krakow in early July, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee decided to incorporate Château de Chenonceau and its surroundings, along with the outstanding landscaped site, the Eperon de Marnay, into the Loire Valley World Heritage site.

Le Rivau joins the Loire Châteaux network
On 4 June last, Eric and Patricia Laigneau, who own Château du Rivau, and François Bonneau, President of Mission Val de Loire, signed a partnership agreement formalising Château du Rivau’s membership of the Loire Châteaux network facilitated by Mission Val de Loire. The network now includes 22 heritage sites.

In May, roses are taking pride of place at Château du Rivau and Chédigny Garden-Village. A whole host of events are planned throughout spring, with "Rendez-vous aux jardins" (Rendezvous in the Gardens) as a high point at the start of June.

Mission Val de Loire has just entrusted the Musée of Africa in Crotelles (37) with 2 totems created by the Nigerian sculptor Boubacar Djibo, better known as “Boubé”. It acquired the works on the occasion of the 2007 Remontée du Sel (Taking the Salt Upriver), which paid tribute to the River Niger.

VOLUBILIS action-research project
The University of Orléans is undertaking a promotional/research project on the Volubilis archaeological site in Morocco which is listed as a World Heritage site. At the municipality’s request, Mission Val de Loire assisted the engineering firm, authorised by the local authority, with identifying the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) associated with the Loire Valley World Heritage inscription that needs taking on board in the PLU.

Vineyards: Vitour accumulates best practices in landscaping
The last Vitour Landscape project seminar, which was held in Chinon from 24 to 27 April 2012, brought together 10 European vineyards included on the World Heritage list. It also provided an opportunity for exchanges with the vineyards of Burgundy and Bordeaux. A meeting was held alongside the seminar, focusing on the possibility of the Loire Valley implementing a practice first developed in Tuscany: the creation of landscape and heritage atlases. The project now has its own blog: myVitour.
Vignobles : Vitour capitalise les bonnes pratiques paysagères

The "climats" of the Burgundy Wine Region submitted for World Heritage status
Since the Middle Ages, every 22 January the vinegrowers from each wine-making village in Burgundy have celebrated Saint-Vincent's Day, the patron saint of vinegrowers. In 2012, the celebrations also revolved around Burgundy's bid to list the "climats" of the Côte d'Or as a UNESCO World Heritage in July 2013 – suggested by the French Ministries of Ecology and Culture, alongside the Chauvet-Pont d'Arc painted cave. Representatives of the VITOUR network of European World Heritage Vineyards also attended.

On Tuesday 15 November 2011, as part of the “accessibility/mediation” component of the “excellence” approach taken by the Grands sites du Val de Loire network, Mission Val de Loire, with the help of the Interface Handicap association and in partnership with the Château Royal d’Amboise, held a study and training day focusing on mediation of heritage for the hearing impaired and mentally disabled. Two further days devoted to mediation of the Loire Valley World Heritage site are scheduled for December.

This document created by Mission Val de Loire seeks to bring to light coherent principles for development of the municipality of Mopti in Mali, based on the findings of urban analyses carried out during the “Territorial management of and preservation of heritage in river corridors” project concerning the Niger and Mekong Rivers, and in part during the “Niger Loire: governance and culture” project. The work relied on a participative process at the Municipality’s invitation, and it is to be hoped that it will be continued, based on the proposals for plans and scenarios put forward.

To wind up the European “Niger-Loire: governance and culture” project, a programme of activities kicked off in Bamako (Mali) on 10 May with the inauguration of the exhibition “The Niger – A River and Mankind”. The exhibition, presented at the Mali National Museum in Bamako from 10 May to 31 July 2011, focuses on some of the results of the project implemented by UNESCO from 2007 to 2011 with participation from a wide range of partners, including Mission Val de Loire and the Centre Region.

Fruit of a partnership between the University of Tours and Cemagref, Lyon, it was financed by Cemagref, EDF and Mission Val de Loire. The originality of the work carried out lay in the crossing of the two partners’ disciplinary fields: fluvial geomorphology and hydrosedimentary modelling. Its contributions to the field of study include high-quality data on a long section of the middle Loire (450 km between Bec d’Allier and Montjean-sur-Loire) and simplified modelling methods.
