Photo competition "Unusual built heritage in Tours"
The City of Tours' heritage coordination department is organising a photo competition for 11 to 15 year olds. On the theme "unusual built heritage in Tours", the competition is open from 1 April to 31 May.
2017 residence programme at “La Colombière”
The Fondation Marquise de Narros - Institut de France is the legatee of "La Colombière", a property on the banks of the Loire in Gennes-Val-de-Loire. In partnership with Mission Val de Loire and Gennes-Val-de-Loire, two residence programmes are available on the theme of the Loire Valley cultural landscape and its portrayals, each one lasting six weeks through the summer of 2017: one artist-in-residence programme and one researcher-in-residence programme.
“In Pursuit of the Bourdon”
In the context of its artists’ residencies programme, La Colombière in Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault (Gennes-Val de Loire) will be open for European Heritage Days on Saturday and Sunday 17 and 18 September 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It will be hosting an installation entitled “À la poursuite du bourdon” as well as sound performances (concert) on Saturday 17 September at 5 p.m. and Sunday 18 September at 4:30 p.m.
Enlisted sailors at the Loire Navy Museum
A model of a three-master, the “Zélé”, has just been installed in one of the museum’s exhibition rooms, specially refitted to house it. It was originally exhibited as part of the temporary exhibition “From the Loire to the sea, bargees in the King’s service”, which focused on Loire bargees’ and fishermen’s enlistment in the French Royal Navy in the late 18th century, during the American War of Independence (1775-1783).

The 2015 Park Eco-Trophy
The names of the 13 winners of the 8th edition of Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park’s Eco-Trophy Competition were revealed on 10 November 2015. The competition rewards local actors (associations, farmers, businesses, etc.) whose innovative initiatives / achievements combine economic development with social concerns and respect for the environment.
Le Bosseau, a new traditional boat known as "toue sablière"
From 31 March to 4 July 2015, the Touraine-Loire Valley Permanent Centre for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE) built a traditional "toue sablière" boat with a group of students from the Pontourny Vocational Training and Education Centre (CEFP) in Véron. This project was supervised by professionals from the CEFP in the workshop of Bruno Perdriau, a marine carpenter based in Saint Germain sur Vienne, and Florian Messin, a head educator at the CPIE and coordinator of this project.
Saint-Maurille de Chalonnes Church treats itself to new stained-glass windows
In 2010, the City of Chalonnes-sur-Loire called on the services of a duo composed of visual artist Pierre Mabille and master glass artist Gilles Rousvoal to rework 12 of Saint-Maurille Church’s 14 stained-glass windows (the church is a listed Historical Monument). The project was voted “best national artistic submission” of 2012 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication’s National Advisory Committee on Public Commissions, for the quality of its creation and renovation. The contemporary stained-glass windows that now form an immediately apparent ensemble (blue in the south and yellow in the north) were inaugurated on 28 June 2014.
Training initiative on interpreting the Loire winegrowing landscape
On Tuesday 29 April 2014, this training initiative day brought together some twenty heritage mediators - "Villes et Pays d’art et d’histoire" group leaders, lecturer guides, educational group leaders from wine museums, etc. This fell within the scope of the 2014 interregional cooperation initiatives project "Showcasing and promoting Loire Valley vineyards", a European Leader programme, bringing together the Loire Touraine GAL (Local Action Group), the Vignoble Nantais GAL and the Layon Saumurois GAL.
Open Days on the gabarot barge yard
"Les Chalandoux du 5e vent" will be welcoming the public on Saturday 4th May 2013 from 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on the barge yard at quai Gambetta in Chalonnes-sur-Loire.
UFO competition in Chinon
The City of Chinon is organising a UFO race as part of the Rivercraft Festival to be held on 27 May 2012. Prospective participants are invited to create an original, personalised “Unidentified Floating Object” to take part in a race on a section of the Vienne.
