Open Days on the gabarot barge yard

The yard for recreating the traditional gabarot barge has shifted up a gear to reach cruising speed. The first planks are now being carved. Thanks to the help of the Ateliers Perrault, skill and technical resources are now available for making the first pieces of the barge that will make the first stage in this recreation a reality. 

A model presented as a cardboard kit – fun and educational at the same time – can be obtained from Chalonnes-sur-Loire at the Vent de Galerne bookshop, Loire Layon Tourist Information Office and the barge yard. Everyone can then build their own gabarot: the names of the models will be submitted to the competition for choosing a name for the real barge.
