4 out of the 9 new destinations selected in 2011 by the Ministries of Tourism and Agriculture, upon recommendation by the Conseil Supérieur de l’Oenotourisme (Higher Council of Wine Tourism), concern Val de Loire: Muscadet-Loire-Océan, Saumur, Amboise and Chenonceau.
There are now a total of 19 destinations promoting quality tourism on the theme of wine and vine, 7 of which are in Val de Loire. In 2010, the Layon Valley, Chinon-Bourgueil-Azay and the Loir Valley were awarded the label.
Created in March 2009, the Conseil Supérieur de l’Oenotourisme seeks to bring together actors in the viticulture and tourism sectors. It studies candidatures declared eligible by ATOUT FRANCE, and then recommends suitable recipients of the “Vignobles & Découvertes” label to the Ministers of Tourism and Agriculture.
It is also involved in the awarding of the National Oenotourism Prize.
