Published on 14 November 2018 - Updated 13 December 2019
The State has committed to rolling out the "listed site" procedure to record and protect the sites that best exemplify and encapsulate the Outstanding Universal Value of the Loire Valley, and which also meet the eligibility criteria for this national protection. This commitment is in line with one of the guidelines in the Unesco-Loire Valley site management plan.

- Le dossier de site classé comprend le rapport de présentation qui identifie et décrit les éléments de la Valeur Universelle Exceptionnelle présents sur le secteur et justifie la protection. La servitude qui en découle permet sa protection en guidant son évolution.

- Listed sites are not subject to regulations. For each project, a special works permit must be applied for, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on its compatibility with the aims to maintain or enhance the site – by referring to the management guidelines.
- In any case and for any project, the government departments in charge of listed site proposals (Département-level Units for Architecture and Heritage historical monument architects (ABFs) and Regional Directorate for the Environment, Development and Housing (DREAL) site inspectors) may assist the contractor ahead of the project, by informing them about the procedure and jointly ensuring that the project is compatible with the protection of the listed site.
