Allocating considerable space to dynamic mapping, this website introduces internauts to all the itineraries included in the SRVVV (Schéma Régional des Véloroutes et Voies Vertes / regional plan of long-distance cycling routes and greenways) – currently numbering around a hundred cycling itineraries, with long-distance cycling routes (including “Loire à Vélo”) and 3000 km of bike trails.

Next spring, when the definitive version comes online, the marandoavelo.fr website will enable cyclotourism enthusiasts to:

  • choose a “turnkey” stay or compose their own stay: personalised itineraries, selected tourism offers, etc.
  • enjoy the use of specially adapted tourism services, including  specialised “Accueil Vélo” accommodation providers and bike rental firms,
  • refine their choice by area, theme, etc. (filter system),
  • log onto the website via mobile devices (in French or other languages) for experts and beginners alike,
  • share their experiences, submit remarks, photos, etc.

The website will be available in four languages: French, German, Dutch and English.

At the heart of a regional strategy

As part of the Regional Strategy for Sustainable Tourism (2012-2015), the Centre Region, has set itself the goal of becoming France’s top cyclotourism destination. Onlining of the marandoavelo website developed by the Centre-Loire Valley Regional Tourism Committee marks an essential stage inthe promotion of eco-friendly travel (by bike, on foot, on horseback or by river). 2015 will see the introduction of a pedestrian component, with horse-riding and rivercraft set to follow in 2016.
