The deconstruction of the Lac de Loire dam is under way

On this occasion, the cycle path will be re-laid and natural scenery restored to the banks, particularly through rip-rap at the base of the embankment. In the river, only the piers on the Loire will be kept to support the footbridge that the parishes of the Blois urban area would like to see laid across.

 

To carry out this work, part of the Loire waters will be rerouted by a system of sheet piling and construction vehicles will have access via lanes using materials from the river. Special attention will be paid to monitoring the environmental impacts of this ecological operation.
