[POSTPONED TO 21 MARCH] On Saturday 21 March 2015, under the auspices of the Foundation for the Protection of Wildlife Habitats, for the sixth year running, the Chasseurs de Loire association is organising this far-reaching operation to pick up litter on the banks of the Loire, from its source to its estuary, with hunting, fishing, sports and Loire boating associations, as well as inhabitants and local elected officials, all chipping in.
The 12 départements crossed by the Loire are taking part in the operation, which is supported by the Département-based Federations of Hunters, local authorities along its banks and businesses.
Everyone aware of the problems of pollution affecting this great river is invited to come and lend a hand. You are promised a warm and friendly welcome! Come and register for free, on-site. Rubbish bags and gloves are handed out to each volunteer, and a complimentary glass of wine will be served to everyone at the end of the morning.
Have a look at the website to find out where the meeting points are in each département.
This is an officially recognised "Loire Valley World Heritage" operation. The Loire Valley World Heritage is a living cultural landscape, with historical towns and villages, important monuments and sites shaped by centuries of interaction between the populations and their environment – including the river itself.
