On 28 September, François Bonneau, President of Mission Val de Loire, and Patrice Debré, President of the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré (CCC OD) (Center of Contemporary Creation Olivier Debré) signed an agreement renewing the partnership between the two bodies. Mission Val de Loire and the CCC OD will be working together on initiatives relating to the Loire River linked with the artistic and cultural programme of the CCC OD.

It was in the heart of the CCC OD, in the vast white room currently housing the “Les Nymphéas d'Olivier Debré” (“Olivier Debré’s Waterlilies”) exhibition, that Mission Val de Loire and the CCC OD renewed their nearly 2-year-long partnership. A partnership aimed at sharing the values of the cultural heritage of the Loire Valley and at developing a new way of looking at the Loire through contemporary art.

The Loire Valley, as a listed World Heritage site, must be able to continue playing its part in contemporary artistic creation. The richness of its history amply demonstrates to what extent it was a favoured region and a source of inspiration for a great many artists. The leading figure of Olivier Debré and his fondness for the landscapes of the Loire is one of the most contemporary examples of this, and now an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Loire Valley.

These two bodies will thus be working together on initiatives to:

  • Contribute to disseminating the scientific and cultural heritage of the Loire Valley;
  • Promote cultural actions and mediation around contemporary creativity and the Loire aimed at all audiences;
  • Gradually establish a network of cultural institutions involved in showcasing the World Heritage listing and the cultural heritage that led to it.

This event came at the conclusion of the “Naviguer sur la Loire aujourd'hui, entre héritage et nouveaux usages” (“Navigating the Loire today, between legacy and new uses”), organised by Mission Val de Loire and the Ambition Recherche Développement (ARD) Intelligence des Patrimoines (R&D Ambition – Cultural Heritage Intelligence) programme.
