Loire Valley successes in the National Finals of the Craft Olympics

756 of the 6,600 who contested the regional heats made it to Lille from 5 to 7 February 2009 to compete for a chance to carry the French flag at the international finals from 1 to 6 September in Calgary (Canada).
Of those that made the podium from the Centre and Loire regions, here are some that did well in areas connected with the Loire Valley's heritage:
Gold medals:
- Jonathan Griffin, stone dresser (Centre Region : on work experience with the Orléans firm ROC)
- Frédéric Guéry and Florian Piton, Landscape gardeners (Loire region: CFPPA Le Fresne d'Angers)
Silver medal:
- Vincent Paillot, Wine waiter (Centre Region: Lycée Albert Bayet at Tours)
