The largest gathering of rivercraft in Europe, this festival will be back on the Orléans riverbanks from 23 to 27 September 2015. On the programme: river demonstrations, trips along the Loire and the canal, Loire villages, rivers of France as well as a whole host of festivities and artistic events. This year, the Festival is paying tribute to the Vistula River (Poland) and the Dordogne Valley.

There is an array of new features this year, including the inclusion of the south bank with an open-air café and music stage and a cultural exhibition. There will also be a village of watersports professionals.

Mission Val de Loire will be showcasing the exhibition " Franchir la Loire " (Crossing the Loire) on the Quai du Roi bank.

The "Moussaillons" centre at the Pont Thinat bridge will open an educational space honouring the Loire: children will be able to learn about rivercraft navigation, sailors' activity on sailing boats and trade along the river.

On 24 & 25 September, the Etablissement public Loire will be organising 4 scientific and technical discussion sessions on:

  • territorial division of climate change impact adaptation
  • acceptance of river flooding expansion zones
  • negotiation of environmental mitigation
  • the reference work: "La Loire fluviale et estuarienne: un milieu en évolution".
