The 5th Destination Vignobles event, organised by Atout France in partnership with the Centre Val de Loire Regional Tourist Board and Touraine County Tourist Board, was held on 9th and 10th October 2012 in Tours. This two-yearly event is a key wine tourism date for the diary - to promote French wine regions before international Tour Operators.

Ahead of this professional exhibition, on 6th and 7th October, pre-tours were organised throughout the Loire Valley for 130 tour operators, giving pride of place to regions awarded the "Vignobles et Découvertes" label.

A press trip was also organised. Atout France invited a group of journalists to take part in a programme prepared by the Centre Val de Loire Regional Tourist Board and Loiret, Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire County Tourist Boards.

Then, on 8th and 9th October, a workshop brought together some 160 tour operators from all over the world (mostly specialising in wine tourism), who were able to meet 110 French professionals through a highly effective system of pre-scheduled meetings.

Several tourist service providers (congress centres, tourist sites, wine estates, hotels) got involved along with the organisers to give the tour operators an insight into the Loire Valley under the very best conditions.
