The French Institute, Mission Val de Loire and the municipality of Chênehutte-Trêves-Cunault (Maine-et-Loire) have set up a partnership to offer a creative residency devoted to the theme of the Loire Valley’s cultural landscape and its representation. Planned to last for around eight weeks during summer 2015, it will lead to presentation of one or more artistic productions on the occasion of European Heritage Days on 19 and 20 September 2015.
The call for candidacies is addressed exclusively to students completing a Master’s degree at schools of art, landscaping or architecture in the Loire Valley. Any and all forms of artistic expression and disciplines are acceptable.
The residency will take place at “La Colombière”, a property bequeathed to the French Institute that was the sculptor Gustave Pimienta’s residence and workplace for some thirty years, up until 1982.
It is located on the banks of the Loire in the municipality of Chênehutte-Trêves-Cunault within the bounds of the Loire Valley World Heritage site, the idea being to match the residency’s theme with the reason for which the Loire Valley was inscribed on the World Heritage List – i.e. as a cultural landscape.
