The Fondation Marquise de Narros - Institut de France is the legatee of "La Colombière", a property on the banks of the Loire in Gennes-Val-de-Loire. In partnership with Mission Val de Loire and Gennes-Val-de-Loire, two artist-in-residence programmes are available on the theme of the Loire Valley cultural landscape and its portrayals, each one lasting six weeks through the summer of 2016.
Located within the boundaries of the World Heritage listed Loire Valley site, this house was where sculptor Gustave Pimienta lived and worked for some thirty years until 1982. The legacy conditions state that the house must continue "…to be used for the purposes of residencies by an artist, art writer, historian or scholar, appointed by the Institut [de France]…".
This call for applications is intended exclusively for students at the end of their studies or recent graduates with five years of higher education from art, landscape and architecture schools in the Loire Valley. All forms of expression or artistic disciplines are welcomed.
Provisional artist-in-residence dates:
The art works produced during these programmes will be presented during the European Heritage Days (17-18 September 2016).
Closing date for entries: 20 March 2016
The names of the selected artists will be communicated on: 8 April 2016
