The Independent Centre of Artistic Research (C.I.R.A.) has welcomed its first artist-in-residence on the Saint Charles "Duit" (artificial ford) in Orléans. The SNCF is making a goods shed in Port-Boulet available as a temporary art studio.
The C.I.R.A. is an artistic residence programme initiated by Arnaud Méthivier in partnership with the Nanoprod association. It can be found on the Saint Charles "Duit" in Orléans – a natural choice for setting up since it is on this island in the River Loire that Nanoprod has been organising the "Duits Festival - artistic refreshments" since 2011.
Since 16 May 2015, the versatile artist Cécile f. DABO, who comes from Blossières in Orléans, has been busy at work there.
The SNCF is launching a call for shows of interest in making artistic use of its heritage (goods shed, water tower, garden, arches, viaducts, etc.) for a few hours to a few days or even a few months with a view to showcasing it through cultural, artistic, fun or other types of initiatives. One of the 16 sites available in France is a goods shed in Port-Boulet.
