The “aide au ravalements de façades” (aid to restoration of facades) operation in Pays Saumurois is part of an initiative to valorise public and private architectural heritage. It concerns the facades and old walls of residential buildings and the facades of public buildings typical of local architectural heritage, with the priority goal of safeguarding and making the utmost of such heritage and its characteristic architectural features (cornices, skylights, jambs, tufa stonework and traditional lime coating).

The subsidy is allocated to communities of municipalities, agglomeration communities, municipalities and private owners undertaking work for:

  • Repair of tufa stonework, safeguard and enhancement of traditional architectural features
  • Application of a traditional calcic lime coating (in a colour harmonising with the surrounding traditional buildings).

Subsidies only apply to work carried out on walls visible from the street or in a public area (square, passageway, etc.), located within the boundaries previously set by the municipalities concerned.
