On 28 February 2013, the Touraine Départemental Tourism Agency officially succeeded the former Départemental Tourism Committee / General Council’s Directorate for Tourism duo. The new single body has a wider remit and aims at greater efficiency and improved clarity of action.
The agency should also soon be incorporating the Départemental Union of Tourist Offices, so putting it in charge of running the network of offices.
Amalgamation of development and marketing/promotion missions provides the Départemental Tourism Agency with the capacity for overall action covering the whole field of tourism – with work upstream focusing on identification and qualification of the existing offer with regard to market expectations, followed by its promotion through a creative marketing policy and later through a complementary reception and information policy.
