A report on Montsoreau in “Villages de France” on Arte and a series of reports in TF1’s 1 o’clock television journal were broadcast in October.

During the week of 27 to 31 October 2014, TF1’s 1 o’clock television journal presented a series of reports on Le Saumurois, acquainting viewers with a selection of its heritages, incuding:

  • The Montsoreau flea market
  • The Loire Navy shipyard
  • The Sarré mill
  • The Coudray-Macouard weathervane workshop
  • The Saumur-Champigny appellation

On the web:

Montsoreau has stood overlooking the Loire since the 11th century, in the heart of a region now inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Atop a white chalk cliff, the village was born from the union of two settlements, Rest and Montsoreau. It was also a strategic spot for monitoring land and river traffic, enabling lords and abbots to grow rich on toll charges. But what makes Montsoreau really stand out today is the dazzling whiteness of its tuffeau stone.
