As part of the research programme "Participation of populations and renewal of landscape practices", a study-action is under way in Villandry. Local inhabitants were invited on landscape trails in June 2013.

The trails organised on 1 and 9 June 2013 followed on from one-on-one interviews held with locals to identify the landscape and land planning challenges

Once these interviews had been analysed, 7 trail stages could be defined:

  1. The banks of the Cher
  2. The footbridge: theme of Le Vieux Cher
  3. Allée Carvallo: view over the Château and village – tourism theme
  4. Départementale 7 (B road)
  5. The church square
  6. Route de Munat: the hillside/valley link
  7. Route de Munat: new buildings

Both these dates drew around 50 participants who walked through the different landscapes of the municipality, together with researcher-partners of the programme. The many discussions held bore all sorts of ideas and information about the municipality, how it is changing over time, its current situation, uses, preferences, regrets and wishes for the future of the Villandry inhabitants who attended.

The programme is continuing and you can catch up on all the latest on the dedicated website.
