The 17th annual meeting of the French World Heritage Property Association (ABFPM) was held in Bourges on 15, 16 and 17 May 2019. It was a moving occasion, particularly as regards the tribute paid to Yves Dauge, President of the Association since 2007, who had decided to step down. The ABFPM’s new president is Jean-François Caron, Mayor of Loos-en-Gohelle and Vice-President of the Mining Basin Mission.

As usual, this annual meeting included visits, working sessions, lectures and discussions, and allowed its participants to discover the wealth of French properties included in the World Heritage List. During this 2019 session, pride of place was given to the cathedral of Saint-Étienne in Bourges, listed in 1992

The ABFPM also holds its AGMs during these meetings. Wishing to continue the work carried out by Yves Dauge, Jean-François Caron intends to develop the initiatives undertaken by the Association through extensive teamwork and by networking with the various members.

During the reappointment of members of the bureau, Régine Catin, Vice-President of Mission Val-de-Loire and Mayor of Fontevraud, was elected Chair of the Mediation Commission. The other elected committee chairpersons are:

  • Tourism Commission: Pierre-Antoine Guinot, Assistant Deputy Mayor for Heritage, Tourism, Communications and the Promotion of the City of Bourges
  • International Relations Commission: Jean-Dominique Durand, Deputy Mayor of Lyon and Heritage, Memory, Veterans and Religion delegate
  • Sustainable Development Committee: Jean-Yves Gouttebel, President of the Puy-de-Dôme Département-level Council
