Marmoutier, un grand monastère ligérien

Published on 05 April 2017 - Updated 25 January 2023

The Marmoutier abbey (Indre-et-Loire), which was founded back to the 4th century, is a good example, through the multidisciplinary character of interventions which have been carried out there, of the dialogue needed between heritage specialists who all contribute to return monuments and sites to their rightful place in the history of human kind.

After ten years of research initiated by the University of Tours in 2004, marked by the resumption of archaeological digs in the land belonging to the town of Tours, it is now time for a review. Therefore, the results of lengthy teamwork are shown here in an initial, easy-to-understand style aimed at supporting subsequent presentations.
