Château en Val de Loire - Chantiers et découvertes

Published on 06 March 2017 - Updated 23 June 2017

The architectural evolution of Loire Valley châteaux is linked to the development of new ideas about buildings and their use. In this way, a defensive rationale was replaced with a planning rationale linked to comfort which profoundly changed the layout and configuration of the sites. Through the vista of the latest archaeological discoveries on the sites of four Loire Valley châteaux, this book shows the specific contributions of building archaeology in terms of knowledge of these châteaux.
