The Loire above and below the water: Archaeology of a river (La Loire dessus dessous. Archéologie d’un fleuve)

Published on 04 November 2016 - Updated 26 October 2018

This book covers research over 40 years in river archaeology in the Loire basin. Divided into four sections: along the Loire, the river that carried boats, the archaeology of the floodplain, the archaeologist and the river, it relates the story of the wide diversity of activities happening above and below the river landscape. The book adopts a multi-disciplinary approach, starting with very long geological periods and centuries-long climatic evolution, to the relatively short lifetimes of its people.
