The State (DRAC – Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs), the Pays de la Loire Region and the Town of Saumur have long been committed to the maintenance and preservation of the town’s classified and inscribed historical heritage. They are continuing with their commitment via implementation of a programming agreement covering the period 2017 to 2020, for a total of €6.345 M, in the context of the convention complementing the 2015-2020 State-Region Plan Contract (CPER).
It will enable completion of work started under the previous State-Region Plan, concerning Château de Saumur and its battlements, as well as work on the safety and restoration of sites regarded as of priority importance (Town Hall, Notre Dame-des-Ardilliers Church, etc.) to be carried out.
