Tourist numbers in Pays de la Loire are rising again after the decline observed in 2016. To carry on this upward trend and support the development of innovative projects, the Region has set up a new scheme for supporting investments in tourism.
With 19.1 million overnight stays, tourist numbers in Pays de la Loire are picking up once again after the decline observed in 2016 (+4.8%). This uptick is mainly due to the increase in overnight stays by foreign tourists, particularly on the coast. Note that the rise in overnight stays is most marked in Maine-et-Loire.

Furthermore, a new regional scheme for supporting investments in tourism has been set up: "Pays de la Loire Investissement touristique". To support the development of new tourism-related projects, the Region is bolstering its support for project leaders by providing assistance more in line with their investment plans. Plans to create, extend or upgrade tourism amenities are eligible for this scheme.
