The restoration and return to its rightful place of the painting depicting The solemn entry of His Grace, the Bishop of Paris, into Orléans in 1734 are an opportunity for the Centre-Loire Valley Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs to delve into the history and iconography of this masterpiece by Charles Joseph Natoire, who was King Louis XV's painter.
This document can be downloaded onlineand highlights the different techniques and trades that were involved in producing this monumental piece of art, which required exceptional operations for removing it, painstakingly restoring it in the studio and re-installing it on-site.
