SNCF Gares & Connexions, under the scientific and technical supervision of the Centre-Val de Loire DRAC and with support from the Patrimoine Environnement association, led the restoration of 18 painted ceramic pictures decorating the indoor façades of Tours station, listed on the Additional Inventory of Historical Monuments.

These symbolic pictures are once more on display for travellers. They date from 1898 and are markers of the Belle Epoque which seem to "invite you to travel" to promising railway destinations.

They were removed and laid on an intermediary support so that each tile could be cleaned, consolidated if needed and restored respecting the ethics of the craft. The work was carried out in the station and in a workshop near to Tours.
