After being recognised as a "1ere Grande Tablée de France" (1st Great Table of France) by the French Ministry of Agriculture, the vinegrowers' organisations in Saumur have once again been honoured by the René Renou award for those who have "worked the hardest, over the past year, on defending and promoting the cultural heritage linked to viticulture".
This award was given to them by the French National Association of Vine and Wine Officials (ANEV) and International Federation of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Writers (FIJEV). This year it is rewarding Festivini, the Saumur Festival of Wine Culture held in September, and les Grandes Tablées of Saumur Champigny in Saumur in early August – the giant open-air banquet for 10,000 guests.
