Promoting cycling in the Val de Loire

The footbridge located close to the place de la Sénatorerie in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent (Saumur) was replaced at the end of 2007. The 220,000 euro project was 67% financed by the Pays de la Loire region, 40% of which came under Loire by Bike funding.

To make life easier for cyclists travelling between Vineuil and Blois via the Charles-de-Gaulle bridge, the departmental council for Loir-et-Cher has embarked on works to improve safety on the cycle route on the left bank of the Loire at the end of the bridge.

The Pays de la Loire region is piloting a new "Bike + Train" service to make travelling easier in Angers. Travellers with a monthly season ticket to Angers will have access to a cycle loan service on arrival, including secure storage facilities, directly on the station forecourt. Cyclists can also leave their own bikes in the new cycle shed.
