The Centre Culturel de l’Ouest, which runs Fontevraud Abbey, wanted to develop partnerships with Saumur-based businesses to become more involved in the local economy and increase the resources provided by patronage for implementing its cultural project.

As a result, in the first quarter of 2009, 25 businesses in the industry, sales, construction and service sectors, with a total of 2,800 employees, signed a patronage agreement with the Centre Culturel de l'Ouest.

The partnerships, formed like a club, aim to foster regional cooperation between the Abbey, businesses and employees. In this context, friendly meetings involving unusual tours of the Abbey, regular information about the Abbey's projects, possibilities of compensation and B-to-B exchanges are being planned.

Imaginary worlds and voyages

7 exhibition and exploratory stops, 7 rendezvous throughout summer 2009

Fontevraud invites you into the world of make-believe. As the grand finale of the triptych launched in 2007 on the wonderland theme, the "Imaginary Worlds and Voyages" programme will capture your imagination this summer. With exhibitions on carnival art (26/06-08/11), illustrations by François Place (2/06- 05/11), the Big Wheel (26/06-12/09) and contemporary art works, there's something for everyone!

The Abbey also welcomes the whole family every weekend for a chance to meet historians, enjoy the magical night-time extravaganzas and dream under the stars during the open-air cinema showings.
