The Protected Agricultural Zone (ZAP) created in Chécy by prefectural order was officially opened on Friday 21 June 2013. This inauguration marks the completion of the steps and consultations which led to the creation of a 284 ha ZAP in Checy – the only in the Loiret to date (there are only a dozen in France).
Especially for the occasion, a sign saying "Chécy poumon vert - Zone agricole protégée" (Chécy green lung - Protected Agricultural Zone) was unveiled. This ZAP will help to protect the nature spots and farmland in the municipality and preserve the living environment by preventing urban sprawl for example and any project which might encroach upon the agricultural area now recognised to be a ZAP.
