Maison Julien Gracq: first author residences

The new writers' residence of the Maison Julien Gracq in Saint-Florent-le-Vieil opened on 5 October 2013. The first three writers selected have already moved in, or are expected shortly, for a few days or a few weeks on the banks of the Loire.

The Pays de la Loire Region and municipality of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil founded the Maison Julien Gracq on the estate bequeathed by Julien Gracq to the town in line with the author's wishes. As a living, recreational and working environment, the site will also be somewhere for myriad meetings and discussions.

The Maison Julien Gracq will thus be putting on literary and artistic events in cooperation with the region's organisations and associations. It will be open to secondary school, sixth-form and university students for public readings, encounters with researchers, writers and translators, master classes or writing workshops.
