Since 30th November 2000, the Loire Valley, from Chalonnes (49) to Sully-sur-Loire (45), has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. UNESCO is expecting the site's stakeholders to draft a reference document on ensuring the actual management and protection of this area. The French State, as a pledge to sustain this listing before the international community, has undertaken to set up a management plan for the site in liaison with the Centre and Pays de la Loire regions as well as all the public authorities in the Loire Valley.
