Following completion of initial work on restructuring the Central Library, the Heritage & Touraine Room on the ground floor is now open to the public. Besides the books contained in the Touraine-Val de Loire collection, it also gives visitors free access to books on the old collection’s open shelves.
The collection, which may only be consulted in situ, focuses on the history of books from medieval manuscripts to contemporary printed volumes, the history of paper, of printing, of engraving and images, and of bibliophilism, and is made up of bibliographies along with technical and reference works.
The room is open:
- on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
