The free app "Visit'Blois" gets you wandering around the town along illustrated trails (e.g. The "Gouffre" ancient natural water reservoir and fountains; the reconstruction of Blois; walking trails waymarked by bronze nails, etc.) or opting for snippets of information about your immediate surroundings thanks to a geolocation system (monuments, gardens, etc.). The app also has an augmented reality system (addition of virtual elements to the actual image seen in your smartphone) as a fun way to learn more about over 100 points of interest, videos, games and slideshows on symbolic sites, particularly with archive photos or photos of the inside of places that are closed to the public.

The app showcases everything that makes Blois the town it is today. As such, the culinary or Loire heritage themes are presented on the same footing as architectural heritage.  A trail along the Loire banks will bring visitors face-to-face with the river’s fauna and flora, and show them just how closely Blois thrives in harmony with its river. App users will find out what measures are taken to protect this living environment and the gentle way of Blois life as described by Jean de La Fontaine or Victor Hugo.

The app also features a quiz of some 150 questions/answers to be played alone, as a family or with friends for each point of interest.

The app is available in French or English from the App Store and Google Play.

In 2014, the Town of Blois intends to enrich the content with audio additions and new visitor trails.
