The Pays de la Loire Region has listed the wine tourism sector as one of its key sectors in its Regional Plan for Employment and the Sustainable Economy (SREED). A regional action plan for developing wine tourism was officially presented by Sophie Saramito on 4 July 2013 at the Regional Wine Tourism Seminar. The actions proposed include a "Tourist Wine Cellars" call for projects which was launched on 9 July to support the development and modernisation of these visitor structures.

Open from 9 July 2013 to 31 December 2014, this call for project primarily sets out to improve the facilities for welcoming tourists:

  • improvement of areas for receiving visitors and showing them the local wine-making heritage (displays, reception area, making these areas accessible, etc.)
  • modernisation of outside areas (signposting, parking, etc.)

These projects should be carried out within two years, from the signature of the agreement. This period includes the commitment timeframe in the reception initiative of "Loire wine region tourist cellars" (or another quality initiative in place in the region's other territories).
