Tree-lined avenues are a defining feature of the landscape, well worth enhancing and protecting in the Loire Valley. The Society for the Protection of Landscapes and Beauty of France (SPPEF) is launching a competition for any local measure helping to safeguard tree-lined avenues, i.e. lanes, roads, streets or waterways that are lined with rows of trees. Closing date for entries: 31 March 2018.

The following are eligible:

  • measures aimed at sustaining tree-lined avenues (upkeep, restoration, plantation, staff training, preliminary studies, research, etc.);
  • economic valuation and financing operations (tourism, nurseries, etc.);
  • measures bearing on communication and coordination as well as raising the awareness of the general public and professionals;

The competition is open to local authorities, associations, professionals and owners of tree-lined avenues.
