In 2009, the 24 founding companies of the Mécène et Loire Foundation will launch the first Mécène et Loire grant. The companies will support this project and ensure that artists have the utmost freedom of expression. The theme is “Art, innovation and the economy in Anjou”.

The theme is intentionally broad and aimed at all types of expression, and will reward an artist or a collective of artists aged 35 or under. The foundation intends to foster a spirit of reflection, to encourage the pooling of ideas and to push the creative process to its limits in order to create the necessary conditions for a unique flagship project which will boost the stature of the region.

This work must therefore help to develop regional influence and convey the values of humanism and social awareness which are at the heart of the Mécène et Loire project.

The "Mécène et Loire" Enterprise Foundation

With an annual budget of €160,000, the "Mécène et Loire" Enterprise Foundation, which was established in 2007, aims over five years to support innovative or original general interest initiatives in the fields of culture, solidarity and the environment.

The Mécène et Loire Foundation undertakes two kinds of sponsorship initiatives: it provides yearly support for around twenty candidates to present their original projects; and, every two years, grants €45,000 for a unique project representing a theme proposed by the Foundation.
