40 years ago, the Pont Wilson bridge in Tours collapsed

On 9 April 1978, part of the bridge in Tours collapsed. This was an extraordinary sight which many locals still remember today. To mark this anniversary, the local newspaper La Nouvelle République is running a special feature in remembrance of this event, going back over the bridge's history, explaining the consequences that the bridge's collapse had on the city and its locals, and presenting the reconstruction work which took four years to complete.
