The landscape is a product of the economy.
It is shaped by the way Farmers and winegrowers work the soils, their choice of products, the size of their plots of land, the maintenance or otherwise of hedges and trees in the fields, and the location and architecture of farm buildings.
Setup of activity areas on the edges of towns or near motorways, for business, services and industry, also has a major impact; their location, types of buildings, landscaping and layout of roads are all aspects to be considered from a qualitative point of view.
By their very presence, shops in town centres breathe new life into historical neighbourhoods, their frontages influencing urban ambiences.
