“Vins, Vignes et Randos” 2014

An event not to be missed out on by any wine tourist who happens to be in the Loire Valley, “Vignes, Vins et Randos” comprises no fewer than 15 colourful winegrowing hikes! Organised by InterLoire (the Loire Valley wine interprofessional organisation), they’re all easy, companionable walks in the Loire Valley, to be enjoyed as a family or among friends and designed to acquaint participants with the various appellations as they make their way through the vineyards against a background of landscapes inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, accompanied by winegrowers and wine merchants and prolonging the summer…

Mission Val de Loire is one of the event’s partners, putting landscape mediators into the field on 6 of the hiking itineraries: 

Saturday 6 September: 

  • Saumur-Champigny, departure from Souzay-Champigny (49), with Jean-Louis Yengue, geographer, Director of the 2nd-year Master’s in Sustainable Landscape Management at François Rabelais University, Tours.
  • Touraine Mesland, departure from Onzain (41), with Marion Cappé, landscape architect at the Loir-et-Cher CAUE.
  • Chinon, departure from Chinon (37), with Dominique Boutin, soil scientist and biogeographer, honorary research professor.

Sunday 7 September: 

  • Touraine Azay-le-Rideau, departure from Cheillé Le Bourg (37), with Jean-Louis Yengue, geographer, Director of the 2nd-year Master’s in Sustainable Landscape Management at François Rabelais University, Tours.
  • Vouvray, departure from Chançay (37), with Michèle Quentin, garden historian, Centre Region Parks and Gardens Association delegate.
  • Chinon, departure from Chinon (37), with Dominique Boutin, soil scientist and biogeographer, honorary research professor.
