The prototype of this turbine by the firm HydroQuest was exhibited on EDF’s stand during the Loire Festival. It is a system that captures the kinetic energy of rivers to generate a regular, economical flow of electricity.
Already installed in a canal near Grenoble, the turbine is due to be installed in early 2014 in Orléans, between the Joffre and Europe bridges, for a one-year trial run, with the particular aim of observing the environmental impacts.
The R&D HYDROFLUV project, accredited by the DREAM Eau & Milieux, TENERRDIS and DERBI clusters, has been selected for the 15th call for proposals of the Single Inter-Ministry Fund (FUI). Hydroquest is lead partner of the consortium that will work on this project, and which includes the Artelia and EDF Groups, Foc Transmissions, Erneo and Biotope companies and the laboratory LEGI INP.
