Following the exchanges initiated under the aegis of UNESCO between the Indian cities which are members of the Indian Cities of Living Heritage network and the National Association of Cities and Regions of Art and History and of Cities in safeguarded and protected sectors, a research trip is to take place in France from 27 September of 3 October 2008 for the mayors of several Indian cities.

The aim of this trip is to allow Indian elected officials to exchange experience with their French counterparts on the theme of integration and heritage policy within urban management policies. This issue is a particularly current and urgent one in India , a country which is experiencing rapid economic development and profound transformations which are far from being neutral in their impact on spatial management.

This event is organised and co-financed by the France-UNESCO Convention, the National Association of Cities and Regions of Art and History, the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town Planning and several French cities.
