In 2020, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Loire Valley’s inclusion on the World Heritage List. What better time for Mission Val de Loire to give its image a makeover and renew its logo? This new visual identity will gradually be rolled out across the various communication media in its different versions.

Christelle Morançais, President of the Pays de la Loire Region and of Mission Val de Loire since 2018, wanted to raise the institution’s profile and bolster its role through a new identity – an ambition fully supported by this redesigned logo.

With a more cutting-edge design, the logo is built around the symbolism of the bridge. Its different colours echo the 4 “cultures” which have shaped the Loire landscape: vines, gardens, stone and the river.

The bridges of the River Loire

For a long time, there were very few bridges straddling the Loire. It was in the 17th and 18th centuries that major bridge-building work was undertaken, marking the beginning of a fully-fledged construction and development policy. Bridges symbolise the interaction between people and their river – an interaction which has fashioned the organically evolved, continuing cultural landscape of the Loire Valley, a recognised UNESCO World Heritage site.

They are also the physical link between the residents living on both banks and, as such, epitomise the exchanges that Mission Val de Loire wishes to encourage and strengthen among the whole of the Loire community, for a better grasp of the reasons and values behind the inscription. Mission Val de Loire is also a bridge between two Regions.

One logo, other logos
