Last November, an interpretation centre opened up in Fleury Abbey, located in Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire (Loiret), giving visitors an insight into the history and architecture of the monument through interactive tours and exhibitions.
The interpretation centre extends over 3 floors and more than 600 sq.m. Inside, visitors will find physical and digital mediation devices presenting the wealth of heritage harboured within this important cultural and spiritual site.
On the third floor, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Abbey's north-east side from the outdoor viewing platform.
Founded circa 650, Fleury Abbey is a remarkable example of Romanesque art in the Loire Valley, listed as a Unesco World Heritage.
The first temporary exhibition is devoted to the depiction of the lion in the Abbey's illuminations and sculptures.
