On 3 April 2009, the joint press conference of the châteaux involved in the excellence initiative of the Loire valley main heritage sites, organised and coordinated by the Mission Val de Loire, was held at the Etoile restaurant in Paris.

Over 30 journalists from the national media  accepted the invitation of François Bonneau, President of the Centre Region and Val de Loire Mission, Jacques Auxiette, President of the Pays de la Loire Region, and the 18 main heritage sites of the Loire valley, to find out what initiatives had been taken in this regard and  what new events the season had in store in the châteaux de la Loire.

After a press conference chaired by François Bonneau, in the presence of Daniel Dupuis, a regional advisor for the Pays de la Loire responsible for tourism, and sponsored by Gonzague Saint-Bris,  a workshop was organised where the journalists could meet each of the châteaux directors there. This event is part of the promotion objective of the Loire valley main heritage sites excellence initiative, implemented by the Centre Regional Tourism Board and Pays de la Loire Regional Public-Private Partnership. It aims to rekindle the interest of general, tourist and cultural media in the heritage of the Val de Loire, through the inclusion of the Val de Loire in the list of World Heritage Sites and above all by taking ambitious joint action:

  • web platform put online in June
  • quality initiative recognised as a national standard by the French Ministry of Tourism as part of the Qualité Tourisme label
  • pass for the Loire châteaux
  • mediation tools using new technologies.

Several of the journalists who attended this event will shortly be invited to the Val de Loire to find out specifically what events are being put on by the 18 great heritage sites.
