Opening to the public of the old Abbey of Marmoutier (Tours)

On this once isolated site, cut off by a cliff in a meander of the Loire, Saint Martin founded a small hermitage in the 4^th century. It grew rapidly, to become a prestigious abbey of considerable influence.Restored and kept up until the French Revolution, the building was partially demolished in the 19^th century. Information: Tours Tourist Office
