Visit tablet, AudioPad, games booklet and more besides – here’s an overview of a few new experiences in store for visitors to the Loire Valley this summer.

Since May this year, visitors have been able to tour Château de Chambord under their own steam, guided by an AudioPad , an audioguide on a digital tablet (with headphones) available in 12 languages. Commentaries are triggered automatically as the tour progresses and an interactive plan indicates areas already covered. There are 3 itineraries on offer: the château’s “unmissables” (45 minutes), adult (1h30) and child (1h).

Château de Blois  opened 3 new interpretation rooms at the end of June: the old Royal kitchens have been turned into an area designed as an introduction to the château visit, with videos, multimedia terminals, models, tactile features and newly amassed collections coming together to enrich the visit itinerary.

This July,  Château de Beaugency  introduced a visit tablet utilising augmented reality to provide re-creations of the monument’s past and acquaint visitors with château history previously invisible to the naked eye.

The Maison de la Loire in Loir-et-Cher has created a “Renaissance de Loire” scenographic itinerary designed for children between the ages of 8 and 12, who can visit it in the company of  Hector le castor in the form of a games booklet. As they make their way through the attraction, its young visitors – with a little help from their parents and Hector the beaver, of course – can make fresh discoveries and widen their knowledge by solving charades, puzzles and crosswords and playing other fun games.
