New directions for Mission Val de Loire

Mission Val de Loire

The Mission Val de Loire management committee met on 3 February 2011 to decide upon new orientations for the Mission over the 2011-2014 period.

Confirmed positioning

Mission Val de Loire is a joint initiative that brings the two regions together, implementing their shared approach to the preservation and promotion of the World Heritage site Val de Loire in close collaboration with the State.

It has a coordinating role for:

making best use of existing assets,
stimulating actions,
ensuring the coherence of existing actions, and
federating and accompanying players concerned.

2 priorities + 1 complementary objective

Continuing on from actions implemented over the 2008-2010 period, Mission Val de Loire’s two priorities are:

Fostering appropriation of the values underlying World Heritage listing among local inhabitants through educational and promotional actions and communication.
- In particular, Mission Val de Loire must put forward a range of proposals on new ways to reach Val de Loire inhabitants, especially the young public.
Accompaniment of local players in order to preserve the site and encourage excellence in all management and development policies bearing on this exceptional area.
- Mission Val de Loire provides local authorities with advice and support in the field of territorial development.
- Mission Val de Loire has a role to play in ensuring that local decision-makers contribute to operational implementation of the Management Plan initiated by the State.

In complement, a new objective is to be given concrete expression: the enrichment of the two Regions’ programmes, plans and actions in the context of the public policies they are implementing (with regard to landscapes, the winegrowing sector, etc.).
