In April 2011, following the launch of her “Les Bains de Salomé®” brand in April 2006, Agnes Patrigeon set about creating cosmetic products with an original idea behind them – promotion of the Loire’s cosmetic heritage! “Le Marinier de Loire®” is now on the shelves, with an initial range of luxury soaps.
“I knew exactly which products I wanted to incorporate into my cosmetics recipes. As a nod to the goods once carried by Loire boatmen, the soaps I have created contain such ingredients as organic red wine and carrot honey. I imagined the most natural soaps possible with raw materials obtained from local producers. I am very much alive to the notion of terroir, and I love the idea of bringing our local know-how to life.”
“Le Marinier de Loire®” was born of the wish to create a top-of-the-line natural product evoking the diversity of goods once transported along the royal river. The Val de Loire’s heritage is a rich and varied one, but the river’s boatmen also carried rather more oriental products such as olive oil and cedar wood – products that are also incorporated into the soap recipes.
A native of Orleans, the brand’s creator entrusted its manufacture to an expert in cold saponification based in Touraine.
There will be a stand devoted to the new brand at the next Loire Festival, to be held in Orleans from 21 to 25 September 2011.
